About Shirley

I am a Feldenkrais Practitioner and I help people discover the joy and freedom to move well and feel better.

Head and shoulder view of Shirley Jeffers

I came to the Feldenkrais Method following a car accident that left me with a chronic whiplash injury after trying conventional and other therapies with minimal success.

There is no competitive element or judgment in this method you are provided with different possibilities to explore what feels right for you. It is an integrated learning practice that carries over into everyday life that creates lasting change.

Southampton Feldenkrais is suitable for people with Musco-skeletal problems, pain, injury, work-life stress, general well-being, and those who want to learn more about themselves. My interest in this field first led me to train in Pilates and later in The Feldenkrais Method which has become a lifelong learning process.

Many people treat the body and mind as separate parts in the belief they do not work together. This has led to a disconnect between the mind and body. However, recent research has shown that the brain and nervous system work together to change our physical and mental health – they act as one system that can create long-term change.

The ethos of ‘no pain, no gain’ is outdated and a more holistic approach is the best way of working with the intelligence of the body. This is a learning system of the now and beyond. For more information or to book a class please call me on 07743484847 or email her here.
